UEA 2's Keep the dream alive

Mixed results for UEA yesterday as the twos won but the !sts lost away to Oxford University.

A lack of availability led to an unfortunate 4-0 loss away to Oxford University 1sts. A few mistakes and some good individual play led to the goals.
Tom Denney picked up the man of the match award but only got 5 bonus points because he picked up a booking, his second of the season (naughty naughty Denney)

The seconds kept up the contention for the league with a hard fought away win against Bedford 3rds. A match which could only be described as a war was set alight in the 65th minute when Liam Martin flicked on a Jonny Richardson throw in, into the path of Sammy Gilliland, he half volleyed from 10 yards onto the post and in. 5 minutes later an error at the back allowed Nick Gaskell to control the ball and lay in Tom Thornton, he placed the ball passed the keeper but the ball hit the post and trickled over the line.
Pete Bellamy and Jason Lincoln rose off the bench superbly and some great challenges from Bellamy and some good hold play from Lincoln kept the ball away from Bedford.
Sammy G very much so deserved the star man award earning him a nice 10 point bonus.

Beasleys' Biatches race to the top of the championship

A Wet and windy Saturday saw the 2's play away to Dyers Arms, a team struggling this season who UEA eventually saw off. The final score was 4-2 and even though the 2's didn't play so well they mised an absolute hatfull of chances. Gaskell, Thornton, Macdonald and Yeomans all missed quite simple chances, but eventually Yeomans got two goals he deserved both with a similar build up assisted by Tom Thornton, Yeomans' 12th and 13th of the season. Thornton got his goal in the second half from a Jonny Richardson cross pass while Jason Lincoln got the fourth from a John Richardson Corner. The MOM award went to Tom Denney, putting him on an impressive 68 points for the season.

The 3rds Played away in the Primary cup and kept a clean sheet, drilling out a 1-0 win. The goal came from Chris Morris as he pounced in after the keeper parried from Jeremy Pitlabos strike. Liam Martin was loaned to the thirds for their big clash and he in turn won the star man award, proving his ability and worth putting him on 81 points.

No points from the 4th team unfortunately as their game got cancelled because the opposing teams players thought it was too dangerous, even though their game was expected to be played on the pitch next to the one the seconds played on. (Fucking Pussies).

Chris Macdonald's Macadonas won him the wooden spoon award for this week, unlucky mate.

The league is not in order so you'll have to work out where you are yourselves:

A rainy day, but not for UEA

UEA first team continued there good form yesterday with a 1-0 win at home to Oxford Brookes. A team who had beaten them 4-0 at the start of the season. The goal came from a Nick Young penalty sending the keeper the wrong way after Duncan White was brought down in the box. Another clean sheet must be great for the back four since Loughborough scored 4 passed them. The introduction of the Monster Magnus must also be making a difference especially with his captains man of the match performance. Things look promising for UEA firsts, third in the league and only 4 points gehind the top two teams Loughborough and a team they have beaten, Oxford University Mens Firsts.

The twos played on a pitch which can only be described as table with two legs shorter than the others against Northampton. Starting the game playing uphill after losing the toss didn't affect UEA after Dave Yeomans strike was somehow kept out by the keeper only 15 seconds after the start. Yeomans did eventually score the first goal, a neat pass from Gaskell put him through and Yeomans tucked it away nicely. Yeomans could of had a first half hatrick had the keeper not kept Northampton in it. Gaskell got the second, unmarked in the box he put a his header into the bottom corner from a nice Chris Gunn cross.
Straight after the restart Gaskell got his second, a crap touch from Marcus Jones accidently put him through to place it passed the keeper. Gaskell got his hatrick from the spot, Liam Martin apparently being fouled. (Never been a pen) Man of the Match Matt Beasley left his mark on the game with a header from a John Richardson free kick. Gaskell got his fourth from a lay off from Liam Martin to make it 6-0. All in all a great day for UEA, most people were covered in mud except Gunny, he doesn't like the wet. Also we would like to congratulate Frank on his UEA debut, he started with real fire only to miss the ball in his effort for goal in a Van Persie style fashion.

Good luck to everyone for Saturday and results on the league should be up by Sunday night.

Thornton grabs the first hatrick bonus while the 3rds and 4ths struggle to continue their excellent recent form

And Pado keeps the UEA Fantasy League Championship dream alive

UEA 2's eventually saw off a hard working Canary who had ten men for the last 70 minutes of the game. A first half effort from Liam Martin was followed up by Tom Thornton, and this started the 6-0 thumping which didn't actually commence until the 70th minute. A mix up at the back allowed Gaskell to anticipate a cock up at the back leaving him with an easy header over the keeper into the net! Thornton then got his second, a beautifully drilled cross from Duncan White fell to Thornton who scored his first headed goal of the season. A good move down the left then allowed Duncan White to smash across goal into the bottom corner which was closely followed up by Thorntons hatrick. A powerful strike couldn't be held onto by the keeper and it rolled into the net, his 10th of the season, very impressive for a right midfilelder. The 6th and final goal of the game came in the 90th minute and was probably the best move of the game. Dave Yeomans went on a good run down the middle and played and exquisite pass with the outside of his foot out to Thornton who then delivered the perfect pass for none other than Marcus Jones to control the ball and slot it into an empty net. Despite Thorntons efforts and second hatrick of the season he was again denied the M o M award as Marcus Jones was voted star man for his persistence and great character (for once).

An unfortunate game for the thirds saw them lose 3-1 away to Marlborough Old Boys, a decent side who unfortunately proved too much for Gavin Butlers boys. Jeremy Pitlabos' return saw him get on the score sheet but unfortunately that was the only high point for the thirds. Hopefully they can bounce back next week to victory.

The 4ths got unlucky again, a 3-2 loss away to Hoverton seems very harsh, two goals from set pieces which will be worked on at training to try to prevent this. The two goals were assisted by Dan Towse and Andy Blackmore which were converted by Dave Foulis and Robin Caley the Snoop Doggy Dogg. Dave Foulis continues his good form, his 6th of the season and Snoop claimed his first goal for UEA. Well done Snoop.

Just the top five in the league to look at today cos im tired and want to go to bed. Well done again to PADO who is still top, and unfortunately for Chris Macdonald (Macca) he won the wooden spoon with a lousy 305 points.

Mixed fortunes as UEA 1st XI play the crossbar challenge

UEA's 1st team were held to a nil nil draw yesterday in a game they could and should have won! Magnus was given nothing to do in a game where UEA hit the crossbar twice and the post once. Positives can be taken from the game, only their second clean sheet this season, the back four of O'Donnel, Andrews, Dave Burnham and the return of Dave Mahoney looked solid in front of the giant that is Tom Lenihan. Clean sheet bonuses were picked up by all the defenders used but unfortunately no goal bonuses. A man of the match has yet to be decided which will be posted this weekend after saturdays games.

The twos had a much easier game than Nottingham 2nds, they had to play Bedford 4ths. A team who were expected to be quite decent after their nil nil draw with their own third team the week before, turned out to be pretty wank and the game was over by half time! Jonny Richardsons' two screamers, were followed by 2 nice lobs from Gaskell and Yeomans, and a tap in from a goal mouth scramble for Liam Martin. 5-0 at half time and UEA knew it was over. A solid 2nd half saw no goals but the creation of many opportunities. Something Bedford failed to do until the last 5 minutes, but even then their goal was ruled out for offside.

Jimmy Havers picked up the star man award and again the 2's followed in the footsteps of the firsts by earning many clean sheet bouses. This has become especially noticeable for Sam Gilliland who is the top scoring defender on 50 points.

Bundles of points thrown away as PADO races into top spot of the League

A thoroughly good weekend saw UEA's involved sides scoring 15 goals between them.

The firsts eventually won 3-1 in a game which should not have gone to extra time. Captain Matt Jepson picked up the M O M award while Duncan White, Tom Thornton and Chris Gunn scored the well deserved goals all assisted by Nick Gaskell. A sloppy goal from a corner lost the back five clean sheet bonuses, but they will be pleased to have not conceded after that.

Gavin Butlers' team impressively turned over Thorpe Village away 6-0. The only team not to concede this week, earning their keeper Dan Humphries and his back 4 their first clean sheets in dream team this season.
Alex Smith picked up the star man award while captain Butler scored two and the others were netted by Chris Morris, Dave Yeomans, Craig Boyle Smith and newcomer Shaun Hateley. Pete Bellamy also had a good game setting up three of the goals.

The fourth team also impressed but unfortunately still conceded, meaning many clean sheet points were flushed down the toilet. Captain Paolo Ceroni and right winger Dave Foulis both got 2 goals and 2 assist while Jason Licoln stepped in at centre mid and got 2 himself along with an assist. Unfortunately for Paolo he missed out on an extra 10 points by missing a penalty, while Dave Foulis admitted he could have scored more than 2. Another stand in 2nd team player Chris Macdonald got 10 bonus points for his man of the match performance, also claiming himself an assist.

Paolo Ceroni has taken the lead in the UEA FC dream team for week 3 with a spanking 332 points. Considering he was in 10 th place before today it just goes to show what differences can happen each week. Well done Paolo!!!!

Unfortunately for Nick Young, his Youngs Gunners win this weeks wooden spoon but well done to Grant O'Donnel, eventually clawing his way out of the relegation zone.

Star Man Gaskell breaks the half century on a poor day for UEA

Two very long bus journeys and two very diffferent games. Paul Andrews' side travelled to Loughborough only to lose 4-0, not a shock considering the well known class of Loughborough even though they scored from 3 corners and an unfortunate Tom Denney got his first goal for UEA, in his own net, a remeniscence of Gary Neville. Dave Birnham picked up the Star man award as voted by the captain Paul Andrews as the team forgot to do one. AGAIN

The second team lost a hard fought battle to Coventry 2's which ended in a 5-4 defeat. Nick Gaskell Bagged 2, one of them from the spot, the other a hooking volley from a John Richardson cross along with 2 assists earned him the Man of the Match of award on a long minibus journey home. Tom Thornton earned the penalty and eventually got the goal he deserved, his sweet half volley was hammered into the top corner, earning him his 5th goal of the season in BUSA. Dave Yeomans Scored the fourth from a high hanging cross with his head, only the second headed goal of his footballing career.

Liam Martin racks up the points on initiation day - While Wyatts Wanderers Take control of the league

I dont think Snoop needs a caption!!!!
Double Click for larger pic!!!! hehehe

As week 2 finished yesterday Liam Martin stole the limelight with 2 goals on his home debut for the second team in the Norwich Business Houses League. He also Earned the star man award which has bumped his total points tally up to 38.

Star Man awards were also given to Pete Bellamy in the 3rds 3-0 victory, and 3 million pound Daniel Towse in the fourths 2-0 victory.

This week Darryl Wyatt is the league leader with Magnus only 4 points behind. Gavin Butlers' apparent weekend performers have left him 25 points away from the first place.

Unfortunately once again, as predicted, Grant O'Donnels Mean Machine are still bottom of the league. Another wooden Spoon for O'Donnel and a poor start to the season could potentially cause relegation for his men.

Bruised and Battered O'Donnell heads home the points as Thornton takes the lead

UEA Mens 1st Team followed up last weeks 3-1 victory with a storming 4-0 stuffing of Staffordshire 2's yesterday afternoon at the Colney Stadium. Matt Jepson received the MOM points while goals came from Nick Young, Mike, Big Dunc and UEA Fantasy leagues' bargain buy of the day Grant O'Donnell.
A steal yesterday at 2M, O'Donnells' 11th minute bullet header and clean sheet earned him 15 points which was only matched by Jepson.

Jonny Richardson won the Man of the match award for the 2's in a 2-2 draw as they struggled to win away to Leicester DeMontford 2's. It looked bleak for them as they were 2-0 down at half time but showed real pride by coming to level it up with goals from Dave Yeomans and Liam Martin.

Tom Thorton overtook Butlers Bravers last night to seal a 1 point margin at the half way stage of week 2.

Despite a cracking day on the pitch its still looking bleak for Grant O'Donnells marathon running Mean Machine, and he could be receiving a second consecutive wooden spoon award.

Points may be hard to find this weekend as 3 of the four keepers aren't playing and the 2's have a crunch game Vs Earlham.

The fourths are playing Mousehold Athletic reserves who if are as dirty as the first team will be a tough opponent to crack.

Butlers side will be playing Wensam Albion, a relativelyt unknown side so it is important they dont get complacent.

Good Luck for the rest of week 2, please post comments too, we love the Bant.

Gaskell
