4ths are messed about by the weather as the 3rds and 2nds continue great cup form

Gaskell is Norwich Union’s Chief Tormentor

By David Yeomans

The 2’s warmed up nicely for their forthcoming winner-takes-all clash with the arrogant Coventry mugs with a comprehensive 4 – 0 win over Norwich Union at Colney.

Gaskell opened the scoring with a neat header after about 15 minutes of UEA pressure following a nice cross from Sammy G. Soon after he added a second in almost identical fashion except the cross this time came from the opposite full-back the fit again colossus Grove. UEA failed to add to this scoreline before half time despite Yeomans hitting the bar and Snoop and Gunny coming close. Their keeper pulled off an awesome save to deny Jonny Richardson a trademark twenty yard piledriver as the half drew to a close.

The second half was a continuation of the first as UEA continued their relentless pressure. It was from a Richardson corner that the third was scored a tame header from Liam Martin somehow bounced over the keeper and into the net. Gaskell completed his hat trick when a Liam Martin header put him through and the keeper stacked it on his arse leaving a stumbling Gask to tap home. It was harsh on the keeper who had made a number of good saves throughout the game but no more than UEA deserved.

Gaskell’s “shat-trick” earned him the MOM award but a special shout must go to Gunny who still found time to start on an Ingoldsthorpe player as we watched extra time in the 3rds cup tie. Gunny by name Gunny by nature.

Ingoldisthorprpe cant handle extra time as 3rds progress

No proper match report as Gav didnt text me back, but from what i gathered Johnny Tucker got the first, a very good goal and Pete Bellamy scored the winner with his head from a sweet Dave Burnham corner in the first minute of extra time. All "Gunn's" went blazing as their captain couldn't handle the bant, chants of "Just because your losing" were on the cards, but probably wouldn't have gone down well as the geezer looked like a filthy racist pikey.

Well done lads and good luck in the Semi-Final!!!!

Im not gonna do the league till the end of next weekend as there is a lot of games in succession, look forward to seeing all the 3rds and 4ths on Wednesday after training to cheer on the 1's against Loughborough and the 2's chance of taking over their league by one point with one game to go, if they can beat top of the league Coventry 2's. Bring friends, girlfriends, even your dogs, its a fucking massive day. OH UEA!!!!

Love you all

Cup Dreams Continue as Gilliland dominates January

A great weekend for UEA as the 2nds won 8-0 in the league cup group phase and the 3rds won 3-1 to progress to the quarter finals of the Norfolk Primary Cup.

Richardson Shines as the 2's Rip apart Drayton

Written by Tom Thornton

The 2’s turned up at Drayton for the 3rd meeting between the 2 sides this season, with a fully fit squad (even grove-white bothered to show up) the idea of reaching double figures had been mentioned. This looked even more probable when early on Yeomans had his shot deflected in and shortly after Beasley rose like a salmon to nod in the second. After that they struggled to find the target again until early in the second half when Gaskell found him self completely unmarked (not a pikey in sight) to coolly add a third. At this point the flood gates opened and UEA went about tearing Drayton a new arsehole, Jonny Richardson bagged himself a rapid hat trick, with Gaskell heading in his second and Thornton also getting in on the act. The game ended 8-0 to UEA and even though double figures weren’t reached both sides were left with one clear conclusion, Drayton are shit and UEA are fucking awesome.

Thanks Tom xxxx

Assists: Chris Gunn 2, Dave Yeomans 2, Nick Gaskell 2, Tom Thornton and Jonny Richardson

MOM: Jonny Richardson

Butlers side progress to last 8

The 3rds impressed again this week by reaching the quarter finals of the Primary Cup, an accomplishment UEA have failed to do in the last 3 seasons.
Chris Morris picked up 2 goals, while Jeremy Pitblado also joined the score sheet, assists were by James Freeman (Frank), Chris Morris and Jonny Tucker.
Alex Pope proved to be very valuable again on Saturday as he picked up his second man of the match award on his 7th appearance for UEA.

If anyone would like to write a match report for this game, feel free and send it to me on nickgasuk@hotmail.com

Happy New Year

A good start to the new year for UEA's 2nd team saw them win 7-3 in the league cup at home to St Johns.

Some new faces (peoples mates) did a good job at the back and on the wings and a second half goal fest after a 3 goal first half proved UEA were by far the better side. Tom Thorton opened his 2007 account with his hatrick of hatricks, taking his tally to 18. UEA's first was a swift move as the St johns left winger passed it to Gaskell who sent Matt (Liam Martins mate) down the wing who crossed in to Thornton. Thortnon still had work to do but turned off his defender well and slotted the ball in to the bottom corner. St johns's big bald striker levelled with what can only be described as a shank which hit the post and trickled over the line. Just before the stroke of half time Gaskell made it 2-1, Matt again crossed in and as the defender slipped he turned and half volleyd into the bottom corner.

Then the goal fest began, UEA made it 3, Gaskell layed to Thornton who tucked the ball away into the bottom corner from 18 yards. Jonny Richardson set up Matt for the 4th and then St Johns made it 4-2 after a few great unorthodox saves from Havers brother. soon it was 5-2, Gaskell this time sent Thornton down the wing who crossed to the out of position Marcus Jones who cooly tucked the ball under the keeper. Thornton got his hatrick, as he dashed after Gaskell's ball and nicely clipped it over the keeper. Jonny Richardson made it 7 with his individual effort from 25 yards after St Johns scored their 3rd. Jonny Richardson and Tom Thornton shared the man of the match award getting 5 points each.

An unfortunately blunder meant the 3rds Primary Cup match didnt go ahead. After their contact explained how to get there, they turned up only to find out that the match was in Kings Lynn and not Lowestoft. Obviously their guy was having a laugh or something, maybe hes a cheating bastard.

Only 3 normal UEA players played for the 4ths against Elm Tavern, Tom Denney, Joe Barker and captain Paolo Ceroni. All the goals were scored by peoples' mates, but Ceroni got 2 assists and Denney picked up the man of the match award as they came out 3-2 winners.

Good results for those who played especially considering the circumstances. see all at the weekend hopefully.
